BIOGRAPHY
Since her formative years growing up in Coventry, CT, Amy has developed and nurtured a unique style through creativity in her articulation of various musical styles. She has fostered her development through instruction and practice of technique, philosophy, and cultural history of percussion. In 1990, Amy attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where she endeavored to study a multitude of drum set and percussion playing and performance styles in the domains of the Latin, jazz, funk, and fusion idioms.
At Berklee, she had the opportunity to back the well-known singer songwriter Livingston Taylor, and found herself sitting in with artists such as Emily Sailors (Indigo Girls). Amy has ignited the stage with her latin infused technique, and flashy stick twirling and catching. In the past six years, she has opened for artists such as The Pointer Sisters, ZZ Top, Flock of Seagulls, Sophie B. Hawkins, Mario, C& C Music Factory, Jewel, Rusted Root, Maceo Parker, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Chris Williamson, Melissa Ferrick, and others.
Amy also teaches individual drum lessons, facilitates an Afro-Cuban/ Brazilian percussion group presentation for children, adolescents and adults, and performs regularly with “Blue Cherry”, John Brazile”, “Corday”, “Adam Up”, and many more. She plans to continue playing, teaching, and publishing a comprehensive teaching aid for drummers that will provide practical and advanced information/exercises on technique, philosophy, developing creativity, mastery, and improvisation.
Amy uses SilverFox / Grover Percussion wood tipped “SF-LR” sticks, and has been an endorser of the growing Woburn, MA based company. She is also endorsed by SPAUN Drums of Chino, CA.
